Animals such as chickens and pigs tend to eat to a certain calorie intake 
as well as a certain protein content.  Animals fed "poor quality" 
proteins, typically those with inadequate lysine, stop eating protein 
before they have filled their lysine requirements, that is, they are 
unable to analyze for individual amino acids.
